Professional Voice Acting Classes

Do voice acting classes sound fun to you? Is a voice over career something you’ve thought about? If this is a route you want to go, you should learn how what your voice capabilites are and how you can use them safely and healthily. I’ve worked with voice over artists wanting to work on anime, narrating story books, being convincing in a sales commercial, and even making voicemails for companies or doctor offices.
Elements of a Voice Acting Class
There are many ways to break down the voice, this is how I choose to group the aspects of the voice:
1) Better breath support and posture through relaxing posture
Unnecessary tension causes strain in the voice, and prevents your voice from accessing everything it can do. I make some use of the Alexander Technique to release bodily stress, especially in the neck an shoulders. Less strain means better sounds for longer!
2) Find your vocal range

Your high and low extremes, as well as your personal “sweet spot” are something you should be very well aware of. This affects what jobs and characters make sense for you, and will lead to maximum success and satisfaction with your voice over work.
3) Breath support in voice acting classes
The breathing techniques for voice-overs are very different from anything we learn or naturally do elsewhere. Voice over actors, singers, and other voice professionals breathe into their belly and ribs, instead of into the chest and shoulders. This type of breathing takes a lot of work to develop because it is not what we naturally do.
4)Pronunciation and diction for voice acting
The way you pronounce words and sounds changes based on your character. For example, in a dramatic scene, “I can’t stop” could be shouted as “ah can’t stahp” if it needs to be at a very high pitch. Modifying pronunciation is a necessary skill when learning how to use your full vocal range safely and effectively.
5) The Politics and Business of Voice Acting

Voice over jobs aren’t just about skill. Marketing, networking, and how to audition your best are also key players in your success. In voice acting classes, we can go over other skills you will need to be as successful as you can.
